On Holiday this week, sorry no update... hopped a flight to Chicago.

Happy Holidays!

12/30 update: taking the New Year's week off from blogging, too. Be back in '06 with new projects.

and is our bitch The piece on the right is around 8.5x11 or so. It's done on a piece of masonite that would normally serve as the backing for a clip-type photo frame. You can see the four slotted cut-outs where the clips would normally catch.

Black on black:

1. Layer of gesso, the text (a Mclusky lyric) was drawn into the wet gesso with the handle of a brush. I know you can’t really see that in the scan of it.
2. Various black markers and acrylics for the other elements...
3. Reinforcement of the text with a ballpoint.

Indie rocker on tile Been doing some acrylic painting lately. Stenciling has sorta gone by the wayside for a bit, but that's OK. These things evolve right? The stencil will come into play I think, but may not be as much of a focus. Who knows though, I may change my mind about that next week. So over on the right is a very recent piece. It's a acrylic, posca (giant paint marker), sharpie and pencil. It's done on a 12x12 inch floor tile. Here's a earlier stage of the underpainting.

And here's a closer shot. You can see the pencil work better in this image and the color is more true life in this one.

Oh and I mentioned two posts ago that I'd sent my submission to the I <3 BeerMats show. Well that site has been updated and my work can be seen alongside a bunch of truly amazing indie artists. Go take a peek at the work- looks like a great show.
