Just a mini-update this week consisting of the cephalomagnapod you see over on the right. Yes, I made that up, so what? Don't make him bite your face off.

Don't make him bite your face off.I hadn't drawn anything with markers in a long time, I got out an index card and then I did. So there you go. I'm traveling...going to Chicago for a week, may or may not update next week.

Over on the right is panel #1 of the triptych. Each of the circles has a text component and, as mentioned previously, the three are meant to be displayed as a triptych like this.

The text was printed, then transferred via a graphite rubbing. After that, I inked the text using a pen & nib and some india ink. More time consuming than just using a marker (or Sharpie) but hand-lettering done in this manner has a specific character that's nicer than a fine-line marker. Here's a detail of a portion of the text.
Here's a clearer shot of:
panel #2
and
panel #3.

Here's the middle panel of the triptych near complete. The only piece that it's missing in the pic at the right is the text component. Painted with acrylic, details drawn over the top with a Sharpie fineliner.

Other than that, here's a postcard sized painting that I made for someone I know. Acrylic, Sharpie, and fortune (yes, from a cookie) on watercolor paper.

So over on the right is panel #3 very near completion. Very near I say because there's one more element to be added later. The background and figure are complete though. Why #3 first? Well, I dunno. Just the way these things work out sometimes I guess. He was painted with warm white acrylic to have a 'ghostly,' pale complexion. The outlined / tattooing was done with... can ya guess? Oooh yeah: Sharpies. I'm branching out into the colored Sharpies. They have quite a selection these days.

Here's the close-up of that.
Other than that, I often like to mess around in the various battle threads on StencilRev. Here's me playing around in the handstyle thread, the word was GARLIC. [The word for the battle is chosen by the winner of the previous round.] No, I didn't win, I just play for fun.
