So over on the left there you'll see one of the projects that I'd been working on over the past 2 weeks. I didn't post the background for this one, but it's a sprayed background, multi blues, splatters, etc... The Duke, John Wayne- a gift for my mum. 3 layer stencil on 16x20 inch matt board.
So that's about it for tonight. Be safe, take a taxi.
"If you from the Midwest, and it doesn't matter where, say, "ssshhhhh"
if you can drink tap water and breathe the air say, "ssshhhhh"
It sucks that you think where I'm from is whack,
but as long as that's enough to keep yor ass from comin back.
Don't take it for granted,
instead take a look around, quit complainin,
build somethin on that ground."
"damn I'm from Minnesota: land of the cold-air... say "ssshhhh"

 Merry Christmas all ya'll!
 Merry Christmas all ya'll!
No new stencils being posted yet... almost time to give those gifts away though. So how does one stencil when it's -3 degrees outside with a a wind chill of -15 or so? With a lot of clothing, a hoodie, and a fur collared army issue field parka, as you see on the right. Such a hassle- I hate winter, did I mention that this week yet? I'm sure that I did.
Other than that why not read about Jim Power? Here's a link to the Wooster post (copied from the NY Times article). I got to see quite a few of Power's East Village mosaics over the summer while visiting the NY.
Cool cool.

Pretty exciting, eh? I know, I know, you wonder what will become of these backgrounds. You feel apprehension, excitement, possibly a bit of nausea. It's OK, it's natural. In time my friends, in time... we're drawing closer to Christmas... These things can't be spoiled in advance you know. So um, yeah go look at the photoblog or sumfin, mmmkay?

There was some new stencil cutting going on this week, but those won't be posted until after Christmas, ya dig?

Other than that, I did a second version of the Shadows / Screamer piece on the second of the two cabinet doors: this time in yellow.

So the Shadows / Screamer piece is done. The screamer portrait was done using five layers. Here's a picture of what it looked like after just two layers.

I was offered a trade for this piece right after I finished making it, but I'm probably going to be holding onto most of the new stuff I create over the next few months. OK, maybe not everything, but not then again not everything I produce will be immediately traded or put up for auction. I'm hoping to put together a couple shows in the Spring and I'd like to have almost entirely new work if that happens, ya know?
